LEAD Team

YouthBorders LEAD Team formed in 2025 following on from the UNCRC Documentary project.

Our Objectives

The objectives of the LEAD Team are:

The YouthBorders LEAD group take the lead in various Youth led projects that will link to UNCRC, GIRFEC and THE PROMISE. The young people will train to become trainers, supporting their younger peers to understand their rights in the ‘right’ way.

To support other organisations across the region to take a youth-led approach to strategic planning, voice, engagement and celebration.

YouthBorders Young Board

As well as looking at YouthBorders priorities – this group act as a voice of young people across our membership to feed into YouthBorders at a strategic board level.

Inspire Award Planning and Celebration

Planning an awards celebration specifically for the achievement of young people across the region, this will take place during Youth work week.

Intergenerational Encouragement

How to engage the wider community more in youth provision.

TITLE 4 NEEDED

YouthBorders LEAD group design their own awards that they will present for the YouthBorders LEAD awards held annually.

Structure

Roles: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Researcher, Evaluator, Digital Lead, Design Lead

Priorities

Specific priorities are decided by the young people during the planning stage, however we encourage the young people to link their focus to our YouthBorders LEAD award categories and to the core values of UNCRC, GIRFEC and THE PROMISE.

Recruitment

Recruitment is directed at our membership organisations. We are looking for a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 16 young people to be part of the board covering all regions in line with our Steppingstones project.

Recognition and Accreditation

Each young person involved in the group is supported to achieve their Youth Achievement award, will automatically receive their Saltire Award upon achieving the right hours volunteered and are offered accredited training with Scottish Borders Youth Voice – sessions starting in September.

Important Information

Initially the group will work towards creating a youth voice resource visualizing their research and experiences as group members.

The team will be working on teambuilding in their first few sessions along with project planning with outher young people from groups such as The Young Re-wilders Group and the Young Rangers with Bright Green Nature.

Expenses to attend meetings are paid – Young people to bring packed lunch on full teambuilding days.
