YouthBorders prioritises leadership development at all levels within the Youth Sector and our coaching services is linked directly to our 5 core values and 3 sectoral priorities;

Professional coaching is a transformative process which seeks to support individuals or teams to achieve their full potential and reach professional goals. The process involves working with a qualified coach for a period of time to identify goals, provide support through a balance of challenge, support and guidance and deep reflecton and analysis of potential barriers and ways to overcome them. The coaching process can lead to significant personal and professional growth which in turn can empower individuals and teams to increase performance in the workplace.

What Coaching Services can Youth Borders Offer?
New to Youth Work Programme
Open to any new youth worker or junior worker who wants to explore their potential or work towards a specific target. Perhaps there is something you are struggling with in terms of your core role, perhaps it’s a wider challenge such as fitting everything into a small-time window, or you feel you are not making progress with young people you work with. Whatever the issue may be, coaching can certainly help you at such an important and significant time in your career.
Lead Youth Worker / Middle Leaders / Supervisors
Sometimes our first experience of leadership comes unexpectedly and most often a leader does not feel ready. if you have taken on an early leadership role or a supervisory position this can be one of the most daunting and demanding times in your career. You can be pulled in all sorts of directions and just want to get it right. Coaching can make a real difference in shaping the type of leader you want to become and is a safe space to be able to discuss and troubleshoot with non-judgemental support. Your coach will listen, ask questions empathetically but will also look to challenge you and set goals which will seek to explore the solutions which are right for you.
Trustees
Trusteeship is a challenging role, no matter how experienced you are. From new trustees through to more experienced trustees who have been part of numerous organisations, challenges are always unique and nuanced and so require a considered approach.
Through the YouthBorders Trustees Network, we aim to develop a close-knit professional support group through a coaching approach. This could take place at group events and networking through collaborative work or by teaming up with a trustee who may be able to support you on your own journey.

Manager / Senior Leader – Leadership Development Programme
Building on the middle leader programme, the manager/senior leader development programme aims to work exclusively with these leaders to support and guide those who are managing organisations and whole teams. The challenges of leadership can be complex and at times overwhelming, particularly during uncertain times. Leadership can also be a lonely place. Coaching offers leaders the chance to discuss in a confidential manner, the personal and profession challenges being faced with a solution focused mindset. The coaching approach will aim to dig deeper into specific challenges or situations and challenge you to consider processes and approaches which you may not have considered. Sometimes it may even be something you have considered but didn’t have the confidence or guidance to give it a go. Leadership coaching will place your wellbeing at heart of the process and strive to develop empathetic leadership skills which can be taken back to your own organisation and teams.
